Pastors Encouraged to Move Forward at Retreat

VIRGINIA – One Focus Network’s (OFN) annual Pastors Retreat February on 19th-21st was a dynamic time of rest and rejuvenation for 50 leaders! Pastors from more than 20 churches came to the Roslyn Retreat & Conference Center in Richmond, VA.

Things kicked off after dinner Monday night. OFN director Joseph Umidi taught on the importance of being “Culture Ambassadors” as pastors. He asked thought-provoking questions including, “What brokenness can we restore?”

Over three sessions on Tuesday, Bishop Tony Miller from the Gate Church in Oklahoma City, OK shared about a fresh oil experience. Taking from Zechariah 4, he admonished all to, “Stop viewing Jesus from the last place you saw him. My yesterday is done. We’re moving forward.

“God makes dead things live again. He can help you become a finisher, but don’t despise small things or beginnings. Your gift can’t help you. Your gift is for those you are meant to help.”

Everyone gathered in the beautiful chapel Wednesday morning.  Juan Milla, pastor of member church Nueva Vida encouraged by using personal experiences. Dan Backens, OFN’s senior director, then led a powerful time with other Executive Leadership Team members in serving communion and praying for individuals and couples.

Advisory Council member Dick Blackwell shared one of the last nuggets of wisdom. He reminded every one, “You [as pastors] are to care for those that the Holy Spirit brings.”
